Coach Mailman
TrainerCordarrius Powell aka “Coach Mailman” takes great pride in working with aspiring athletes, fitness enthusiasts, and anyone who is willing to get more focused, powerful, and technically proficient than ever before. As an amateur and professional Boxing Coach, Mailman has become well-known and respected throughout the southeastern boxing community. After training under Coach, Orlando Paulding; he has developed his own unique and effective teaching methods to meet your goals. He concentrates on getting your body and mind focused and prepares you to be your best or compete against the best.

Coach Micah Phoenix
TrainerCoach Micah has 5 years of boxing experience, with 2 years of amateur boxing coaching experience. Certified Green level coach and winner at the 1st Annual Yellowhammer Boxing Classic in 2024.

Coach Michael Gibbons
TrainerMichael Gibbons who had an amateur career with a 36 bouts including multiple Alabama Golden Gloves championships. He moved to coaching after a stellar professional boxing career. Michael “The Godfather “ Gibbons, currently trains our competition team while also spending time introducing new boxers the foundation and skills it takes to become a Champion. In addition, Michael instructs those in fitness based on the fundamentals of boxing.

Coach J.O. Harris
TrainerJohn (J. O.) Harris began his boxing career in the Mecca of boxing, New York City. After moving to Birmingham, John continued boxing as an undefeated amateur then moved on to the professional ranks where he competes today. J.O. works with our competition team and those new to boxing. John is one of the most sought after trainers in Alabama, Champions is happy to have him as a part of our team.

Coach Akash Chand
TrainerCoach Akash Chand has over 16 years of boxing experience and is President/Owner of Champions Boxing. He is a current Green Level Coach and Official’s Pathway Clerk on USA Boxing. Akash also serves as Director of our 501-C3 Non-Profit, Champions Building Champions

Coach Fred Weaver
TrainerCoach Fred Weaver started training and competing in mixed martial arts in 2008. With a primary focus on striking, he went on to compete not only in MMA, but professional boxing and kickboxing as well. Fred's coaching focuses mainly on proper mechanics and technique to help members and fighters meet their goals.

Coach Jake Guercio
TrainerCoach Jake Guercio is the Vice President of Champions Boxing. He has been involved in boxing since 1966. He is a USA Boxing Certified Green Level Coach. He holds certifications as a USA Boxing Official and a Certified USA Boxing Strength and Conditioning Coach. He currently serves as Chairman of our 501 C3 Non Profit Champions Building Champions.

Epiphany Freeman
Social Media DirectorEpiphany Freeman is our social media director/manager. She has been a part of the champions family since 2023. Epiphany came in as a member just wanting to learn how to box, but saw a gap that she could help to fill. She volunteered to start managing our social media pages and, ever since, has become a vital part of our team. Epiphany sits on the board of our 501C3 nonprofit, “Champions Building Champions”, and assists in the gym any way that she can and is a huge asset to Champions’ success.

Coach Giovanni Falcone
TrainerGiovanni “Coach G” Falcone began boxing at the age of 3, boxing for his dad John Falcone who ran the famed Northside Boxing Club in Cincinnati, OH. After winning multiple national titles, he transitioned into coaching at the age of 18 and by 21, began running the Northside Boxing gym. Giovanni has coached 100s of boxers over the years on both the amateur and professional level and has helped over 20 of these athletes win National titles, including champions of the National Golden Gloves, National Silver Gloves, National PAL, National Junior Olympics, National US Championships.

Coach Curt McCune
TrainerCurt McCune is a Las Vegas trained former 4 time state amateur boxing champion, also named the Outstanding Boxer at the 1986 Alabama Sports Festival and the 1994 International Law Enforcement Games Champion at 193.lbs
-Over 40 years in the sport
-Boxing record: 55-3; plus over 30 exhibitions
-Owner of the original Champions Boxing (2000 to 2009)
- Trained/coached over 30 state and regional amateur champions and a boxer who beat the future world heavyweight champion
- Trainer and works corners for professional boxers (previously licensed in 3 states)
-Current Sgt. With Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office (32-years in law enforcement)
